The first performance of the BYC was at the Independence Day
celebrations of the Govt. of Karnataka. This was in the very fourth month of its existence
and the BYCs performance was well and warmly received. There was no looking back
since then. One after another, many more programmes came along, including many prestigious
ones like the ones at the All India Womens Conference in the September of 1984, at
Bangalore Palace in the presence of the then Prime Minister of India late Smt. Indira
Gandhi and late Shri Rajiv Gandhi and at the Russian Festival of December 1987 held in
Bangalore . Among its other prestigious platforms are the ones at the SAARC meeting in
Bangalore in October 1985, at the Pondicherry state festival of 1992, at Vasanta Habba
1997 of Nrityagram, Bangalore, the Indian Roadways conference, 1998 and at the
50th year Independence Day celebrations conducted by the Govt. of Karnataka. It has also
performed in umpteen editions of the Hampi Utsav and the Mysore Dasara celebrations. The
BYC is also an approved All India Radio and Doordarshan, Bangalore, group.
We are happy to say that today the BYC has become a
synonym for discipline and dedication to the field of Indian Choral Music. The BANGALORE
YOUTH CHOIR(R) for ever remains committed to spreading the message of
HARMONY through Indian Choral Music.
