A
versatile composer, she, has composed music for a wide variety of songs ranging from
patriotic songs, devotional songs, Bhavageethes, to folk songs and also for many
dance-dramas, in Kannada and many other languages. Her compositions intended as Choral
Music have a unique, other-worldly, fragrance to them, one that holds the very essence of
Indian Music, at the same time doing justice to all ingredients that go into the making of
Choral Music - an essentially Western concept - thus blending the best of both worlds in a
beautifully seamless manner.
In 1982, she
was selected from Karnataka to attend the National Integration camp on Community Singing
at New Delhi where from she was adjudged an outstanding candidate. After training further
at Bhopal, in a special camp conducted by NCERT New-Delhi, she on deputation toured the
whole of India, including places as far-flung as Port Blair, as a Resource person to teach
community songs to teachers all over India. She has never looked back since then either in
teaching or in conducting.
